AWEA Wind Power
Project Siting Workshop
February 24 - 25, 2009
The Grand Hyatt Seattle
Seattle, WA
AWEA’s annual Wind Power Project Siting Workshop will be held February 24-25, 2009, in Seattle, Washington. Wind project siting issues span the entire range of project planning, construction and operation. Responsible siting of wind projects requires an understanding of interactions with permitting agencies, the public, wildlife, and surrounding land uses during each stage of a project. Please join us at the 2009 Siting Workshop to get the latest on relevant siting topics for the region. The recent approval of a 909 MW wind project in Oregon and the 2008 review of the Washington Wind Power Guidelines make the Pacific Northwest an ideal place to engage on these issues.
Topics to be covered include:
- Regional permitting structure for wind projects
- The latest on wildlife survey methods
- Technical Issues
- Community relations and how to effectively engage the public

**NEW** PAPER "LESS" WORKSHOP |
In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, AWEA is excited to announce that for the first time, the AWEA Wind Power Project Siting Workshop will be going paperless for the session handouts. What does that mean? We will not be distributing the session handouts on-site at the workshop in hard copy format. No more bulky binders or wasted paper from printing hundreds of copies. Instead, attendees will have access to electronic copies of all speaker bios, presentation materials, and handouts online before, during, and after the workshop through the following 3 methods:
Before the meeting:
Registered attendees will receive an email announcing when the workshop materials are available. You may print them out in advance at your convenience or download them to your computer if you would prefer.
Onsite:
A limited number of printing stations will be available where you can print the handouts you need, or download the presentations to your laptop so you can follow along in the workshop sessions. Attendees will also receive a blank notepad so you will still be able to take notes during the sessions.
After the meeting:
Handouts will be available to workshop attendees online until March 4. That way you can continue to access them after you get back to your office.
