AWEA Education Scholarship Fund

For the second year in a row, the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is delighted to offer scholarships in the American Wind Energy Association Educational Scholarship Program.  AWEA is now accepting applications for those interested in attending the WINDPOWER 2008 Conference and Exhibition in Houston, Texas.  The event will be held June 1-4, 2008.

In cooperation with the generous support of Suzlon Wind Energy, several scholarship fundraising activities have occurred throughout the past few years.  The funds raised from these activities has helped to establish the AWEA Educational Scholarship Program.  The goal of these efforts is to provide educational scholarships for those interested in enhancing their knowledge of the wind industry.

The deadline for submitting an application for WINDPOWER 2008 Conference and Exhibition is March 31, 2008.

Please review the scholarship information below BEFORE completing the Scholarship Application.

Notification will occur by the end of April.
(NOTE: no confirmation will be sent to confirm receipt of an application due to a large number of applications received.)
 
The Program

  • Several educational grants will be available to attend the WINDPOWER 2008 Conference and Exhibition. 

  • A committee of representatives from the American Wind Energy Association and the wind energy industry will convene to select award recipients.

  • Award will cover the cost for full conference hotel and registration expenses for the WINDPOWER 2008 Conference and Exhibition.
  • Travel and meal expenses will not be covered be scholarship.  These expenses will be the responsibility of the recipient.
  • Awardees will be selected from those demonstrating the highest levels of commitment to furthering their knowledge of the wind industry as communicated in the personal statement.

Eligibility and Criteria

  • The award will be available to anyone interested in enhancing his or her knowledge of the wind industry.

  • Top priority will be extended to any current full-time student, faculty, staff or K-12 professional studying or interested in furthering their knowledge of Wind Energy as a premier energy source.

  • Additionally, secondary priority will be extended to applicants already involved in the field of Renewable Energy, Engineering and or the Technology profession interested in gaining further knowledge of Wind Energy.

Application Requirements

Application requirements include:

  1. 250 word statement written by the applicant, describing how participation in the program will enhance the participant's knowledge of the wind industry along with future career goals related to the Wind Industry and/or Renewable Energy.
  1. Completed and signed AWEA Educational Scholarship application.
  1. A resume
  1. The applicant's signature on this application.
